US v. UK baking shows
TV Baking Competitions: a major indicator of the cultural difference between two outwardly similar seeming nations.
America has “Holiday Baking Championship.” Contestants compete for a $50,000 cash prize while running with knives and smack-talking each other. Someone always ugly cries… Linda. Smash cuts. Quick pans. Foreboding violins and whatever instrument makes that “DUN-DUN” sound.
Britain has “The Great British BakeOff.” You win nothing. There are cut-away shots of ducks. The ducks swim on a pond adjacent to the baking. No one shouts — not the contestants, not the judges, not the ducks.
Both countries really like butter, though.
